How does pressure vessel design take external nozzle loads into account?

There are three common approaches:

• The buyer supplies the loads for a few selected nozzles.
• A standard table of nozzle loads by nozzle size is agreed and applied.
• The buyer asks for the allowable nozzle loads, and each nozzle is designed to carry them.

When is a cladded vessel the right choice?

When the contents are corrosive and the wall is thick. A carbon steel shell carries the pressure and a few millimetres of corrosion-resistant alloy protect it, which costs less than making the whole shell from alloy.
