ASME authorization for pressure equipment

Ultraweld Coat is authorized by ASME to use the ‘U’ stamp and the ‘R’ stamp in the production of pressure vessels. Pressure vessels and shell and tube heat exchangers are designed and fabricated to ASME Section VIII Division 1.

• Pressure vessels: accumulator shells, filter vessels and exotic-metal cladded vessels
• Heat exchangers: ‘U’ stamped shell and tube units for high-pressure service

Third-party inspection

Ultraweld Coat’s pressure vessel manufacturing has been certified by international inspection organisations and engineering contractors, including Lloyd’s, TÜV, Bureau Veritas, Aker Kvaerner, Uhde and Toyo. Customer or third-party inspection can be arranged at our works as part of an order.

Quality control in the works

• Measurement: coordinate measuring machines, optical comparators and laser scanning are used to check machined and ground components. See machining and grinding.
• Inspection at each stage: components are inspected through production, not only at the end.
• Automated cladding: weld overlay is applied with Fronius welding systems and Kuka robots, which keeps thickness and composition consistent from part to part. See specialty cladding.
• Qualified welding: welding is carried out to qualified procedures under the supervision of welding engineers.
• Sealing surfaces: coated valve balls, gates and seats are ground and lapped as matched sets.
