Ultraweld Coat Pvt.Ltd. is renowned as the best Ball valve manufacturer in Pune. A ball valve is a type of quarter-turn valve that uses a spherical ball to control the flow of fluid through a pipeline. It is widely used in various industries due to its reliability, durability, and ease of use. Here’s an in-depth look at ball valves, including their design, properties, advantages, and applications.
Ball valves offer high performance and versatile sealing in industrial services:
Quarter-turn operation permits rapid opening and closing, vital for emergency shutoff systems.
Premium seats provide a tight seal, minimizing leakage risks even in fluctuating pressures.
Designed for long cycle life with minimal friction and rubbing parts, reducing wear and tear.
Full-bore configurations allow fluids to pass through with virtually no flow restriction.
As a leading Ball valves suppliers in Pune, our ball valves are straightforward in design, making them easy to operate and maintain.
They are designed for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. The absence of rubbing parts reduces wear and tear.
When closed, ball valves provide a tight seal with minimal risk of leakage, due to the ball’s precise fit against the seats.
The quarter-turn operation allows for rapid opening and closing, making them suitable for applications requiring fast response times.
| Floating ball | Trunnion mounted ball | |
|---|---|---|
| How the ball is held | By the two seats only | On a shaft at top and bottom |
| How it seals | Line pressure pushes the ball onto the downstream seat | Spring- and pressure-loaded seats move onto the ball |
| Best suited to | Smaller sizes and lower pressures | Large sizes and high pressures |
| Operating torque | Rises with pressure | Stays lower |
Polymer seats give tight shut-off on clean fluids at moderate temperature. For abrasive, erosive or hot service the valve is built as a metal seated ball valve: the ball and seats are coated with tungsten carbide by HVOF, and the set is ground and lapped together so the hard faces seal.
A standard ball valve is an on/off device. Held partly open, the seats are exposed to the flow and wear unevenly. Where control is needed, a ball with a shaped (V-port) opening is used instead.
In a floating valve the ball is held by the seats and pressed onto the downstream seat by line pressure. In a trunnion valve the ball is fixed on a shaft and the seats move to the ball, which keeps torque manageable in large, high-pressure valves.
A standard ball valve is designed for on/off duty and should be run fully open or fully closed. Held partly open, the flow strikes the exposed seats and wears them unevenly. Where a ball valve has to regulate flow, a V-port ball, whose shaped opening gives a controllable flow characteristic, is the suitable design.
A metal seated ball valve is made tight by matching its hard surfaces. The ball and seats are coated, usually with HVOF tungsten carbide, the ball is ground to a true sphere, and ball and seats are then lapped against each other so that the set seals as a matched pair.
