Malaysian industry asks very different things of its pumps and valves. Offshore platforms off Terengganu, Sarawak and Sabah lift seawater and handle sandy produced fluids. LNG and petrochemical plants at Bintulu, Kerteh and Pengerang run hot, high-pressure process lines. Palm oil mills and oleochemical plants pump sludge full of fibre, shell and sand. All of it happens in a humid, salt-laden climate.
Ultraweld Coat provides Pump & Valve Coating Services in Malaysia, including HVOF thermal spray, tungsten carbide coatings, and wear and corrosion protection. Components are coated, ground and lapped at our works in Pune, India and supplied to customers across Peninsular and East Malaysia.
Crude palm oil and mill sludge carry sand and hard shell particles in a hot, mildly acidic liquid. Shaft sleeves groove under the packing, impeller vanes thin and progressive cavity rotors lose their seal line. A hard, dense tungsten carbide coating on these surfaces resists both the abrasion and the corrosive liquid, and ceramic coated sleeves are an option where the sleeve runs cool.
Where soft-seated valves cannot cope with sand, pressure or heat, metal seated valves are used, and their balls, gates and seats need hard, corrosion-resistant sealing faces. We coat this trim by HVOF and lap the mating parts together. In a marine atmosphere the density of the coating matters as much as its hardness, because it has to keep salt water away from the base metal.

Sleeves for sludge, slurry and seawater pumps, coated with tungsten carbide or ceramic to stop grooving under gland packing.

Rotors that move palm oil sludge, wastewater solids and other abrasive, viscous fluids, coated and polished to size.

Impellers, casings and shafts exposed to sand and silt in seawater lift, slurry and process duties.

Trim for metal seated ball and gate valves on offshore, LNG and petrochemical lines, lapped as matched sets.

Anti-galling carbide coatings for wear rings in stainless steel pumps, maintaining clearances in solids-bearing fluids.

Plungers for high-pressure cleaning, dosing and injection pumps, hard-coated and super-finished for long packing life.
Yes. Sleeves, impellers and progressive cavity pump rotors used on sludge and crude palm oil are typical parts for tungsten carbide or ceramic coating.
Tungsten carbide tolerates higher surface temperatures and shock, so it suits sleeves that may run with little cooling. Ceramic gives very good wear and chemical resistance but can be damaged by overheating or sharp thermal gradients under the packing.
